Palm Oil imports completely banned with immediate effect in Sri Lanka

According to the President Media Unit, the president instructed officials to ban palm oil imports to the country.

The officials are instructed to stop the clearing of palm oil imports in the Port. Meanwhile, the cultivation of oil palm (katupol) also will be completely banned.

Furthermore, the companies need to replace the palm oil cultivations with Rubber or another environmentally friendly crop.

Afterward, the government intends to stop the cultivation of oil palm and the consumption of palm oil completely.
